With ‘The Witcher 2′ completed CD Projekt Red is planning on making a big announcement at E3, promising that this time, console owners won’t be left behind.
The Witcher Console Announcement E3
With the release of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings now come and gone, a question brought up only a month ago is now looking to be a very real possibility. The idea of seeing CD Projekt Red’s latest title on both the PC and home consoles was pushed aside, with the developers wanting to wait till after the game was released to announce anything further. Well now it’s after, and it turns out they have something to show.

With E3 fast approaching, CD Projekt Red’s Senior Producer Tomasz Gop has said that they have some special information related to The Witcher series, but are staying quiet until June 7.
Any developer would be foolish to make a serious announcement now, with the gaming world’s largest convention just weeks away. Gop dropped a few hints as to the nature of one such announcement when speaking with Eurogamer, and if you do a majority of your gaming on consoles instead of PCs, you’ll want to hear them:
“I can’t say anything obviously for gazillions of reasons but it is a Witcher game, and I can say that console gamers might be interested in it”
Back in April, Gop had admitted that instead of releasing The Witcher 2 on both console and PC, the developers wanted to release the best project possible, and focused all their effort solely on the PC. When those comments were made, Gop claimed that a console version was almost a certainty.
The decision was a fair one, and best for the game and their fans, but there’s no question that both PC and console gamers will already have their imaginations racing on what the team could announce next.
Gop was quick to state that this won’t be a sequel announcement, so those already looking forward to another chapter in Geralt’s story shouldn’t get their hopes up.
“No, I’m not going to lie to you, we haven’t started work on The Witcher 3…But it’s possible we might do it in the future.”
That being said, it will be an interesting announcement to come, especially with what may come included. If it is The Witcher 2 heading to a console near you, does that mean it will be released before the holidays, and will it include any of the game’s free DLC?
Hopefully all of these questions will be answered come E3, and rest assured that you’ll know as soon as we do.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is available now for the PC.
