It is widely known that the Kinect has not had the best reception on the land of the rising sun due in part to a lack of room to play with it in most small Japanese apartments. Demo stations in Shinjuku have been seriously lonely. While Microsoft recently set a world record with sales of Kinect in the US, in Japan the sales are measured in thousands, not millions. That doesn't mean that the marketing crew has given up entirely though.
The Kinect Trailer, and by trailer I mean the literal kind that gets pulled by a truck, will be heading out starting March 19 in Hiroshima, ending its tour in Kobe this April. The trailer is roughly the size of most urban apartments (maybe smaller), complete with ceiling fan, which will hopefully assuage any concerns that the peripheral won't work in urbanites' small digs. It also helps testers be a little less self conscious,'cause as we all know, testing body-controlled games in retail stores can be more than a little embarrassing.
Microsoft hopes to improve support of the Kinect in Japan so Japanese developers will be more familiar with it and more likely to develop software for it. If Kinect isn't successful in Japan it could put developers at a disadvantage trying to figure what software players outside Japan want on the device.
