Overview The PlayStation Vita continues to drop in sales and has fallen way below its main rival, the 3DS. The PSP is the only platform to be up week on week and the 3DS is the only platform to be up year on year. As a note the 3DS was only available in Japan at this time a year ago. Overall sales are down by 7 percent week on week and down 17 percent year on year. Overall five games debuted in the top 30 this week. FIFA Street sold a combined 370,613 copies in its opening week. Software milestones this week in the top 30: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3) passed the four million mark; and Kinect Adventures! (X360) passed the 16 million mark. Worldwide Hardware
Week on week sales are up for the PSP and down for everything else. The 3DS is at the top this week with sales of 172,755 units, which is down 7,379 (-4%). The PlayStation 3 is down 11,639 (-7%) to 160,732 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down 3,996 (-3%) to 116,336 units sold. The PlayStation Vita is down 21,650 (-19%) to 91,633 units sold. The Wii sold 76,120 units, which is down 3,655 (-5%). The DS is down 4,051 (-10%) to 34,895 units sold. The PSP sold 43,460 units, which is up 1,594 (4%) compared to last week. Total week on week sales are down 50,776 (-7%) to 695,931. Year on year sales are down for every platform, except for the 3DS. The PlayStation 3 is down 30,544 (-16%), the Wii is down 64,955 (-46%), and the Xbox 360 is down 35,539 (-23%). The PSP is down 62,636 (-59%) the DS is down 154,368 (-82%) and the 3DS is up 109,397. With the Vita and PSP combined it is up 28,997 compared to the PSP one year ago. Total year on year sales are down 147,012 (-17%).
All three home consoles have dropped in sales for a third straight week. The PlayStation 3 has a 45 percent market share; the Xbox 360 has a 33 percent market share; and the Wii has a 22 percent market share. The PlayStation 3 is in first for a 12th straight week. Compared with ten weeks ago all three home consoles are down. The 3DS has outsold its predecessor, the DS, by more nearly 5 to 1 and the Vita has outsold its predecessor, the PSP, by more than 2 to 1. The PSP has a 55 percent market share this week for the current generation handhelds and the DS has a 45 percent. The 3DS has a 65 percent market share for the next generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 35 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the Vita is up, while the other three handhelds are down. Worldwide Software Five games debuted in the top 30 this week. Silent Hill: Downpour (X360) debuted at number 11 with sales of 80,029, while the PlayStation 3 version debuted at number 14 with sales of 76,232. The game launched in North America and will release in Europe on March 30. Puella Magi Madoka Magica Portable (PSP) debuted at number 17 with sales of 63,845. The game launched in Japan, with no release date anywhere else. Other games in the top 10 that are not debuts include Mass Effect 3 (X360) at number one with sales of 338,672.Mario Party 9 (Wii) is at number three with sales of 173,790. Tales of Graces f (PS3) is at number six with sales of 150,430. Mass Effect 3 (PS3) is at number seven with sales of 126,507. Just Dance 3 (Wii) is at number nine with sales of 89,865. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) rounds out the top 10 with sales of 89,033.

Wii software sales are up 185,422 (16%) to 1.37 million. The DS sold 763,674 games, which is up 256,564 (51%). PSP game sales are up 246,633 (109%) to 473,761 games sold. The 3DS sold 429,841 games, a decrease of 107,588 (-20%). The Vita sold 148,022 games, a decrease of 43,694 (-23%). Total combined software is down 718,625 (10%) week on week to 7.50 million. Year on year software totals are up for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PSP and 3DS, and are down for the Wii and DS. The PlayStation 3 is up 466,673 (26%), the Wii is down 413,795 (-23%) and the Xbox 360 is up 160,687 (75%). The DS is down 1.46 million (-66%), the PSP is up 4,309 (1%) and the 3DS is up 362,653 (540%). Total combined software is down 726,496 (-9%) games sold year on year.
The PlayStation 3 has retaken the top spot, and has been at the top for seven of the last ten weeks. The Xbox 360 led for the other three weeks. The PlayStation 3 has a 40 percent market share, the Xbox 360 with 36 percent, and the Wii with 24 percent. Compared to ten weeks ago all three home consoles are down.
